What Is a Spiral Steel Silo Production Line?
A spiral steel silo production line is a complete set of equipment used for the continuous production of spiral steel silo bodies. Using steel strip as raw material, the equipment employs roll forming and seaming processes while rotating and climbing around the outer circumference of the foundation to roll and form the entire steel silo wall in a single pass, eliminating the need for prefabricated steel plates and extensive welding and assembly. The main equipment in the production line includes an uncoiler, a bending machine, and a forming machine.

Main Production Line Equipment
The uncoiler, forming machine, and bending machine constitute a dedicated complete set of equipment for spiral steel silos. These three machines operate in a continuous production line to process steel strips, directly forming an entire steel silo on-site without the need for sectional welding throughout the entire process.
The uncoiler is a machine used to support and unroll steel coils. When manufacturing spiral steel silos, the raw material is typically steel strip supplied in coils. The uncoiler mounts the steel coil onto the machine’s reel and continuously and steadily feeds the material to the downstream equipment.
Working Principle
- A forklift loads the entire coil of steel strip onto the uncoiler’s spindle.
- The main shaft hydraulically expands to firmly clamp the inner diameter of the steel coil, preventing slippage.
- The motor drives the steel coil to rotate at a constant speed, while the pressure rollers hold the steel sheet in place, feeding the steel strip outward smoothly.
- The guide rollers correct the alignment of the steel strip to prevent misalignment, ensuring the steel sheet is fed straight into the forming machine’s feed inlet.


The forming machine is a critical piece of equipment in a spiral steel silo production line. It is used to continuously roll processed steel strips into a spiral silo body and form a continuous silo wall structure through methods such as edge interlocking.
Working Principle
- The straightened steel strip fed from the uncoiler enters the roller assembly.
- Multiple sets of rollers apply pressure in stages.
- After processing, the curved steel strip—which has been formed with a radius and flanges—is fed into the bending machine.
The bending machine is used to continuously bend the uncoiled steel strip, gradually forming the flat strip into the cross-sectional shape required by the design, preparing it for subsequent spiral rolling and seaming.
Working Principle
- The flanges of the previously formed steel strip and those of the newly fed steel strip are sequentially fed into the seaming rollers.
- High-strength rollers apply pressure to roll and lock together the five overlapping edges of the two steel sheet layers, forming spiral reinforcing ribs that encircle the entire outer wall of the silo.
- The friction generated by the interlocking action drives the entire coil of the silo wall to spiral upward along the roller support frame.
- As the equipment interlocks the edges, the silo body continues to rise, growing upward coil by coil, much like tightening a screw.

Working Principle
Preliminary Preparation:Geological survey, custom drawings, and delivery of steel strips and rolling equipment (uncoiler, forming machine, seaming machine) to the site
Foundation Construction: Excavation of the foundation pit, pouring of the ring-shaped concrete foundation, and curing until the required strength is achieved
Equipment Setup: Position the silo assembly at the center; install support roller brackets around the outer perimeter; calibrate the forming radius and seaming pressure
Silo Forming: Uncoiler feeds the steel strip → Forming machine presses out the radius and seaming flanges → Seaming machine locks the edges; the silo body spirals upward
Silo Roof Installation: Once the design height is reached, assemble and secure the roof components
Lowering and Securing the Tank: Cut the steel strip, remove the machinery, lower the tank onto the foundation, and weld it to the embedded anchors for securing
Installation of Accessories: Assemble accessories such as dust collection, discharge, temperature measurement, ladders, and lightning protection systems
